LowlaDee (Dolapo Lola Adeleke) is a celebrated African storyteller known for her award-winning digital narratives. Her acclaimed works include the Nigerian web series This Is It (2016–2018), which earned over 20 million YouTube views and won "Best Television Series" at the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. Her groundbreaking Kenyan-Nigerian YouTube film PLAN B (2019) garnered over 6 million views in its release and won "Best East African Film." The Netflix feature Just In Time (2021) received widespread acclaim, trending Top 5 across Africa and earning multiple awards and nominations, including ‘Best Overall Film’ at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2021. Recognised for her contributions to digital media, she has received various accolades, including being named one of Nigeria's "100 Most Inspiring Women" in 2018 by Leading Ladies Africa and the Guardian Woman.
Keen about storytelling for social impact, LowlaDee served as the writer and creative director for the documentary Earth Women, an exposé on gender-based discrimination within extractive communities in Nigeria, collaboration between CSR-In-Action and the Ford Foundation. She also worked as the writer-director for In Bloom, an anthology film produced by Paramount Global, the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, and the Gates Foundation. The film explores life-defining moments for characters facing gender-related issues such as period poverty, child marriage, HIV stigma, family planning, and women's empowerment across USA, India, Kenya, Brazil and Nigeria. As part of the anthology, her short film Afefe (Wind), which she wrote and directed, focuses on economic empowerment. The anthology premiered on Paramount+ and earned the Shorty Awards 2024 in the "Original Content: Branded" category.
LowlaDee is the founder of Lightscreen Media LTD, a UK-based social enterprise media company that collaborates with initiatives, talents, and stakeholders worldwide to drive social change. The company is currently developing its flagship project, a documentary advocating for the availability of holistic care and support for post-FGM/C survivors as part of the End FGM/C Campaign. She also volunteers her expertise with ACERS-UK, a female led voluntary collective advocating for research into reconstruction surgery and psychosexual support for FGM/C survivors in the United Kingdom. Additionally, she serves as the Digital Communications Officer for the Church of England’s Southwell and Nottingham Diocese.
